The light is bright (although I don't use it too much). It works great in a smaller room (mine is a home office that is 11'x11'). I have it hooked up to two wall switches. 1 switch controls the light and the other controls the fan. So, it does not have a remote, but I like the way that I have it set up w/ the switches on the wall.
