Q: Does the smell eventually go away?

It seems to. We made some faux leather pouches for a Mandalorian costume and the smell went away. I think it is just a temporary thing.

Q: Is it difficult to get the fold creases out of this fabric?

It wasn’t difficult at all. Just leave it flat for a couple days or lay something heavy (that won’t leave indentations) on it. I don’t recall mine having major creases.
