And you certainly can type with it on.The not-so-good: You can type with it on, but it might slow you down a bit. The color areas and letters on mine aren't lined up on top exactly, but they're close. If your keyboard is backlit, the light doesn't show through very well, and since the letters and numbers don't line up a double image results. I just turn the backlight off. There are a couple of extra international characters on the 4 and 5 keys. And it doesn't really stick to your keyboard. It's just a friction fit, and it will fall off if you turn the keyboard upside down.That said, it's inexpensive and it looks good and does protect and cover the keyboard. It's becoming worn of course on the keys I press the hardest, but that always happens. It hasn't become hole-y and as soon as I got it, I laid it on and it was ready to go. This color or not keyboard covers are a LIFE SAVER especially if you eat at your desk or have cats! When things get dirty you can just pick it up and shake it off over the trash!
