The material is super light, yet feels sturdy. The glass panels are thick and came intact. It was amazingly easy to set up. I never build furniture, not even bookcases, so I'm not experienced or handy. Yet I put this together all on my own within 30 minutes. It's beautiful looking, very sleek and display-worthy. Husbandry-wise, I can see this set up being good for keeping in humidity b/c of the panel walls instead of glass, and reduced screen size, as it comes in about 2" on every side on the top. It's a little dark inside because of that, but I dont think snake will mind, I can always get some lighting if need be. The only negative of note is that a couple pieces have strange markings. The top panel has a long line of stain of some sort, looks like a water stain. The rubber barrier for the sliding glass also has something strange, a whitish scrape like it was damaged somehow. These two things are not noticeable from more than a foot away, doesn't affect overal aesthetic or compromise structure, so I still gave 5 stars. This size and quality of tank would be no less than double or triple the price anywhere else, so I'll take a couple scrapes np! Review: I love my modern terrarium. Corn snakes do not need a very deep substrate to burrow in. I've had 2 adults ranging in length from 4-5 feet. They will happily burrow in bark substrate 2 to 4 inches deep. Pile it up towards the back of the tank, and maybe place a 4-inch wide plank of wood paneling or acrylic in front of the door to act as a higher barrier. You'll be fine. Something to note: if you use an under-tank heating source, make sure it's regulated or you risk burning the snake when it burrows. Use a thermostat set to 85 or so. **Q: am I able to use this with a heating pad instead of a lamp** A: I have a heating pad on the bottom and side, works great. **Q: I have recently ordered this product to house my male mouse. How water resistant is the material/should I seal it with another product?** A: Thank you for the question. The material itself is water resistant, and will not absorb moisture. The unit however is not watertight. If you need it to be watertight, you will need to seal it. **Q: For the heating pad, would it go on the outside bottom still? What would be a good size to heat through?** A: I recommend putting the heating pad on the outside and using a thermostat. If you **HAVE** to put it inside, place a heavy tile or slate rock that covers the ENTIRE heating pad with a thermostat.
