I was aware the sizing might be an issue. Am somewhat relieved that I can work with this garment being slightly smaller than I'd like. I am a true medium in most garment sizing. I ordered a large to compensate for the sizing reviews. That was a good move, however wish I'd have even gone to an XL to use as a layering piece. I hope that helps you make your purchasing decision. Also, all other comments regarding a distinct odor are true. I'll hang outside in an attempt to rid of the odor and if it does not work, this will be my reason for returning, not the sizing. This item looks very much like the picture, however it is shorter than the picture. Material was nice and thick and was still a stiff, dark denim. It is not form fitting nor did I want it to be - it will fit nicely over bulky clothes. The material did have a chemical smell (it might have been the result of an attempt to "age" the material) to it but it came out in the first wash.
