I don’t use it a lot but when I use it, I use it hard. Mostly cutting down hard live oak trees down here in Florida. It’s not a Stihl but it’s also much cheaper. My only complaint would be the chain does need tightened quite a bit, but for the avg home owner I would say it’s worth the buy. What I like about it the most, is the fact that it’s starts within a few pulls after sitting for 8+ months. Same spark plug, just add new fuel and chain oil. If I had to guess I would say I probably have 20-25 hours ish with it and on my second Chain. Again I have been hard on it ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Leaks Oil Badly! Fixed by shop. *by R***R on May 11, 2020* Since writing this review, I've since had the leaking oil fixed under warranty at a local repair shop, see notes at bottom. A great feasible chainsaw for a DIY person performing their own repairs, and/or for a home owner learning basics.Poulan could likely also improve these products by allowing interchangeable blade lengths. I would likely buy two ~50cc chainsaw engines, one with a 16 and one with 20 inch bar, rather than differently sized engines/parts. Many other manufacturers readily offer a similar range of bar lengths, rather than one fixed bar length per make/model engine/base.Spending ~$600-700 seems excessive, for a few more proprietary not needed or "nice to have" features. Poulan is feasibly priced basic chainsaw.Now, continuing with my initial review of this product....This is an initial review of the Poulan PR4016 chainsaw, with initial photos for people desiring a good 360x360 view of the chainsaw.I've owned several Poulan Pro products over the past decade or more, and the Poulan products tend to be of good quality with excellent dependable starting and running with the trade-off being more affordable than the Husqvarna make/models. The Poulan products sometimes have some parts requiring replacement over the years, but nothing requiring more effort than an ordinary mechanically inclined homeowner can easily fix.I've previously and currently own a 2007 Poulan Pro PP4620AVX, with having the same similar dependable starting and running history. The only downside for their (PP4620)AVX model, is the quirky tool-less chain tightening system (I recently replaced with the old de facto screw/nut tightening system) and the +20lb carry weight. The PP4620AVX is a good 20 inch bar chainsaw, however I desired something having a safer more versatile smaller bar (and hopefully) lighter weight than the older chainsaw. Could I be misled thinking the 16 inch bar is safer and/or the PR4016 is lighter, shrugs. I'll find-out soon after using.This model PR4016 model is slated as weighing only ~10lbs, however my weigh scale showed +12lbs. No fuel or chain oil has yet been added.A quick itemized weight, as my cooking weigh scale cannot weigh more than 12lbs:12 lbs 1/4 oz for the body1 lbs 13 1/8 oz for the bar/chain/cover2 3/4 oz for the tool1/2 oz for the two nutsMy kitchen weigh scale has a 12 pound limit, requiring itemizing.PROS1) ~5lbs lighter than my older 2007 Poulan 4460AVX 20" model chainsaw.2) Rips right through everything I've used this on so far, including many stumps sawed level to ground level. No need as of yet for a Oregon PowerCut chain as of yet!3) Starts right up, if one reads and follows the starting instructions. Always buy new gas, as these 2-cycle engines are finicky due to the 2-cycle oil additive not readily burning off with ethanol added fuels. Save the older gas for the electric start lawn mowers!CONS1) Rough low idle. Unlike my older 2007 Poulan 4460AVX make/model upon purchase having a nice idle, you'll likely need to take the PR4016 to a service center for adjustment, or I'd rather just buy the carburetor tool for adjusting the low idle mixture.2) Spark plug was gaped for 0.016" from the manufacturer instead of the documented 0.025"! Second engine within the past year, a B&S engine, shipped with too close spark plug gap!3) Upon arrival the spark plug required 25+ ft/lbs for removing! Needed a breaker bar for the initial spark plug removal, while my other small engine aluminum heads require much less torque.4) This PR4016 chainsaw chain/bar oiler really dumps oil onto the chain and bar, as if the sides of the bar also rqeuire lubricating! Not sure if there's even an adjustment for this. This chainsaw definitely needs a case for preventing oil getting everywhere during storage! (Fixed per 2021.04.01 notes, however still strongly recommend a plastic case or plastic underneath due to past history of leaking.)5) Compared to my older Poulan 4620AVX, both units, after weighing on a bath weigh scale, seem to way 14.2 pounds/lbs with chains/bars and containing some oil/gas. A likely reason why this/these newer Poulan's seem to be heavier, they're likely much more bulky or having a wider body compared to my older smaller body Poulan 4620AVX. Bluntly put, I like the more narrow/smaller body of the older chainsaws, as the newer bulkier/wider bodies likely offset the balance while carrying, increasing the appearance of the weight significantly while carrying! I'm becoming more interested in the Stihl MS-260C ~10lb chainsaw, although not interested in the ~$600 price tag.6) This 16" Poulan bar/chain setup, is specifically meant for pruning only. The included chain is a very narrow kerf, and is very slow cutting. More appropriate for pruning only, and not for firewood cutting or as a backup chainsaw.TIP: Top of the agenda, spray paint the silver tool fluorescent orange, or other similar paint color in the event it gets lost on the floor of the forest.TIP: I've owned a 2007 Poulan 4460AVX 20" chainsaw and never had an idle problem for 13+ years. With this PR4016, I think users need to adjust the low idle fuel mixture for proper low idle mixture, as well as possibly the idle throttle afterwards, for preventing the chain moving and/or stalling.TIP: I always upgrade the spark plug on my engines to E3 plugs. Poulan chainsaws usually use E3.12 plugs.TIP: The tools required, *T-25 star driver for removing the top casing for accessing the spark plug, *3/4 socket and 15-25 ft/lb capable torque wrench for spark plug removal/install, *21 teeth spline screwdriver for adjusting low/high carburetor mixture screws; Cheap RPM tachometer for monitoring RPM during high speed carburetor mixture setting and possibly for idle rate. The "*" prefixed items are required, while guessing can be possibly substitute for the other testing/tools.TIP: Forget buying a canvas bag due to the oil always leaking. The chainsaw will leak oil all over the inside of the canvas bag and onto your floor. Buy a plastic case instead.2020.09.21 Still leaking a lot of oil, even after loosening oil cap and re-tightening, relieving any pressure!2021.04.01 At sometime, I took the chainsaw to a local (~40 miles) repair shop under warranty for the leaking oil. They stated they did nothing, however the chainsaw sat at the shop for months and now after using, the leaking has stopped.
