I'd either end up with cheap sounding speakers, or have to spend a ton on decent ones. Since I already had good speakers, I liked for a transmitter / receiver system. I had a couple different ones in the past to send TV signals to different rooms in my house, so I figured there would be one for speakers. Surprisingly there were few! At least for a reasonable price. So hook up was pretty quick. Always a pain to pull out my receiver to get to the back for the speaker hook ups, but that's not this products fault. Once I had it hooked up, I did the pairing and got a good solid link. But I got no sound from the rear. At all. Volume on the unit turned up. Nothing. Looked on line, stumbled across someone having the same problem I had. The problem was me! I didn't read the directions closely and mistook the transmitter for the receiver unit! (the transmitter is the smaller unit of the two) Once I swapped them and re-paired them to each other (like, press a button) everything worked great! The bigger issue is the quality of the sound between front and back. **Q: Will this work with the auto speaker calibration function of a Pioneer receiver?** A: Yes. We use two of them for wireless rear speakers. Make sure the volume is turned up on the Rocketfish before calibrating. **Q: Can this be connected to speaker output on amplifier?** A: Yes. I have had this since 2006 connected my speakers to speaker output on amp. No delay and audio is equal to a direct connect to amp. **Q: Can the device be controlled remotely, volume and or on/off?** A: No It can not be turned off and on remotely. Super easy install and it even comes with 2 speaker cables for the sender. I immediately re-ran my Yamaha receiver’s sound test and the distances to the rear speakers are accurate as if they were cables. This confirmed that there is no delay. Super happy. My speaker wires were becoming frayed under our hard wood floor and this was a super easy and cheap hack to get my surrounds to be happy again. Love it.
