I believe I read a warning about watching that your fingers aren't in the way when you place this bar. Just to try it I put it on the side of my refrigerator. About two inches away it instantly grabbed onto the refrigerator. I couldn't budge it! I had to open the freezer door and slide it, (with quite a bit of effort), to get it off. It also has a stainless steel backing with the hanging holes drilled in to it that you can actually use as a stencil for hanging it. Very convenient. I ended up placing it on the side of my refrigerator, which is right by my work area. It is really nice looking, and absolutely no fears about the knives sliding off! My cousin saw it and I had to order one for her too. I highly recommend this bar.
