**Q: Hi, will this replace an out of date Ei144 heat detector without having to remove the base unit?**
A: Yes, I'm pretty sure you can fit the new detector on the existing base unit - it worked for me, but you can always check with Aico, they're very good at answering questions.

**Q: how do you replace the battery**
A: Remove the detector from the base and you will see the battery in the underside of it (mn1604b) unplug it from the connector and replace.
