Although these are flush with the pressing surface i can see it becoming an issue over time causing scratches.....but what is more of a concern is that food/oil can get trapped up in that small cavity where the screw is. But it has worked for me. They're not countersunk and will scratch any surface they come in contact with. If you only use a well seasoned cast iron pan they may not cause much damage but any other pan with a coating (teflon etc...) is going to be ruined.
