These seats are only 12" X 12" *by E***R on Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2018* Apparently, I was reading so many bar stool reviews, that for some reason I thought they were 16X16... 12X12 is OK... But I prefer a more comfortable 16x16. Lucky I am kinda handy, didn't take too long to figure out that I could just run down to Home depot, grab some (dark stain), Some 3/4" Oak cabinet grade half a sheet, I had home depot rip it down in 16" sections. Used a jigsaw to round out the corners, sanded the edges, stained and sealed. Got 1.25" grabber deck screws and screwed them down from the ender side of the existing wood... Note: I could have removed the existing wood entirely, but the extra height was welcomed in my situation.Now these stools offer twice the comfort for a less than 30 bucks and a few hours of time. I was thinking of a way to make the seats removable. But, I am not going to stack these. So, if you do make the seats wider, you can't stack them. I guess you could maybe try to bolt them down with wingnuts or something. One would have to countersink the pancake bolt heads. Shrug....Reason why I gave them 5 stars is because the stools are very quality and sturdy and are the perfect height. I think adding the 3/4 inch makes them fit even nicer for height wise, also, we are looking for some 16x16 proper seat cushions as well. They arrived damage free, and well packed. Would buy again as they are very solid and well built.
