Full-grain leather is the outermost layer of cowhide that has all the characters and is not to be confused with “genuine leather” that mass production industry uses for bonded leather made out of residues- think wood vs. MDF. Leather Care As leather is used, it loses its oil contents. The leather is beautiful and the workmanship is top notch. My mother, a longtime lover of fine leathers, guessed it was about $100.00. She was astonished when I told her it was half of that. Just a few things to be aware of if you are considering this item:1. Full grain leather is stiff when new. Don't worry, it will soften up with use.2. The credit card shots are tight. That is good, leather stretches to accommodate things, like when leather boots are broken it. I have had mine just a few weeks and the credit cards now slide in and out smoothly.3. I e-mailed Esan and he told me that the application of a tiny amount of olive oil was the best was to maintain his items. He stressed "tiny."4. Finally, full grain leather is the outer skin of the cattle. Slight imperfections are normal, just as we have scars and marks on our skins, and actually show that the leather is top grain. Lesser quality leather is perfect because it is cut from the full grain (the best). Mine had very minor marks, such as the item would have after a few weeks of use. This is part of the beauty and character of full grain leather, enjoy it and expect the leather to get a patina with use. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Okay, not what I expected but it'll do. *by W***? on Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2017* This cover is well made and looks great. It does add a bit of bulk to the pocket though. The card slots are too tight to fit anything comfortably. I intended to use those slots for business cards but they're too shallow and tight. The pen holder is nice but since I write on both sides of the page (I know, crazy, right?) it makes it difficult when writing on the left page. I'd much rather have something slimmer and with a better location for the pen loop. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Well-made in the USA *by T***D on Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2018* I ordered this with my initials on the cover for a bit of personalization. This seems to be durable and extremely well made and fits 3x5 note pads like the Moleskine Cahier or Elan Publishing Field Book. There is a pen loop that I am using with a Fisher Bullet Space Pen, a couple of sleeves for business cards or credit cards and a larger pocket on the left side behind the business card sleeves.
