I am recording from a computer through an audio interface into a Sony TC WR635S deck, and this tape handled dynamic material beautifully. On Type I, quiet sections of songs would sometimes hover close to the noise floor, which made intros and softer passages feel thin or slightly unstable. With the Tascam Type II, those same sections sound clean, stable, and present. The headroom is noticeably better, and the overall playback feels very close to the original source. High frequencies remain clear without sounding harsh, and low end stays controlled without getting muddy. Vocals, especially in softer openings, sound natural and solid instead of grainy. After calibration, this tape delivered what feels like a one to one transfer of my recordings.
