Not to complicate the process, I had my wife make me up. It helps that she's a talented artist. You do need to wet the make as you're applying it. It doesn't come with brushes, you need to have your own. Since the makeup is water, it cleans easily. For the record, it doesn't glow in the dark. Just so happens that I was standing next to a table with greenish lights. I did, however, sprayed hairspray so it wouldn't run if I sweat. It held up for the amount of hours we were at the party. I've never done anything like this before but the paint was so easy to use & very forgiving. It stayed on perfectly all night and washed off really easily.
