The cherries were soft and tasted like they would probably be delicious...IF, that is, they didn't contain rancid oil! The product contains sunflower oil, and that is presumably where the strong rancid flavor is coming from. The product expiration date was 8/13/2024 (batch 230132), while today is 3/18/2024, so despite having 5 more months before expiration, the product has gone bad. Perhaps the oil was old to begin with, or inadequately stabilized with antioxidants. In any case, we can't eat them, and Amazon says this item is not eligible for returns. I'm not pleased! EDIT: When you click on the item in your order history and try to return it it says it cannot be returned. However, I found that if you go to the separate customer service menu on Amazon and then work the problem that way, entering your order number, and saying damaged or defective product, Amazon will promptly issue a credit for the product.
