Review: Overly hyped - "In the Mood for Love" just didn't click with me. It gets so caught up in showing off its technical cinematographic craftsmanship that it loses the fluidity, cohesiveness and emotional grip of the story. The acting didn't work for me either—it felt stiff and overly self-conscious. And the chemistry between the couple, which is the film's core, ends up falling flat. It's way too hyped. Investing on expensive Criterion release of this movie is not recommended for a first time viewer. Would have been worth a one time watch if it were available on a Rs 200 DVD.

"In the Mood for Love" just didn't click with me. It gets so caught up in showing off its technical cinematographic craftsmanship that it loses the fluidity, cohesiveness and emotional grip of the story.
