The padding is soft so there's no risk of snapping your tiny storage cards taking them in and out. It's a good, small case if you don't have an abundance of SD cards to store. Hinge and latch use pins instead of flexible plastic so they should last a good while. Gasket is well fitted.I bought one each of the 12 slot (8 micro / 4 standard SD) and the 16 slot (16 micro SD).I did make a field modification to them since the only need I had for standard SD an adapter. I removed 1 foam insert from each case and swapped them. I now have space for 14 micro SD's and 2 standard size slots to carry an adapter.
