It seems that 140 amps. falls just short of being able to effectively weld a little bit thicker metal, but with this machine, you can get it all the way up to 155 by connecting to 220 volts, in case I had to weld something just a little bit heavier. But also, really important to me was, I wanted to have something that was very small and very lightweight. I have a big family and I'm always trying to patch things up at the kids houses. This is so easy to move and so easy to work with that I was sold on trying this machine. If I would have purchased a new steel gate the cost would have been 1,000 dollars. Plus I can now do future welding jobs as well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Seems like a versatile entry-level machine for the price and tech support experience was very good *by E***N on February 22, 2022* I am a novice welder and have only used my machine a couple of times - will try to update the review when I've had more time with it. From a specs/versatility and price perspective this machine seems like it will provide good bang for the buck. The manual is not great which led to some newby mistakes on my part. Hopefully these notes will be of use to someone out there who is just starting out as well. I was setting up for gasless flux with the provided wire and was having wire feed issues. I called support and a live person answered and they were really nice and helpful. 5 stars for support - wish I got the name so I could give him props. The unit ships with two wire drive wheels - I had used the smooth one where I should have used the toothed one. Also make sure you use the right groove based on wire size. Finally, the unit ships with two springs for the wire reel - use the light one. Even that may be too much in which case you can adapt the heavy one to correct the tension - would have likely been better to just have some sort of screw tension adjustment on the unit. With the help from tech support, I think I'll be in decent shape. Overall happy with unit so far.
