You should be able to connect the phono outputs of your tv to the jack input with a phono to jack cable. If you have a headphone output on your tv you could even connect that to the sound bar with a jack to jack cable. The bar has a an input selector for optical or analogue. **Q: If you have a sony tv and a sony soundbar connected via the optical cable, will the tv's remote control the soundbar?** A: sadly no, the remote for the soundbar does turn the tv off though **Q: Does this need to be plugged in to get power?** A: Yes, both the sound-bar and the sub need to be plugged in to the mains. **Q: How close to the tv can I place the soundbar** A: As close as you like. Mine is mounted on the wall above the tv about 2" away. The subwoofer is on the floor about 3ft away. you don't notice that the subwoofer is to the left in a corner.
