In my cafetiere I can see a slight oil residue on the top of the coffee. This coffee is in my opinion a 4 in the coffee strength scale. Slightly strong but not at all bitter. I use a rounded coffee scoup in my cafetiere and find this is enough to give me a full bodied coffee in the morning and it's fabulous as an after dinner coffee. If you like an alcoholic coffee this is perfect and marries beautifully with whisky or tia Maria. I drink my coffee black with no sugar so notice if coffee is bitter and I'm often disappointed with big brand coffees but this one is superbly strong with no bitter after taste.
