But then I noticed that there was a metal bushing in the stem of knob. I pulled the bushings out with needle nose pliers and the knobs fit on perfectly. I don't know if this makes them less durable and it certainly makes me hesitant to recommend them to others, but at least these knobs work now. And they're a lot less $ than the original part. UPDATE: two of the four became soft from the oven heat and no longer gripped the control shaft. I reordered *this exact same part* and the metal bushing *was no longer removable*.
