The height on the Diono chair is generous allowing for a taller child to still be able to use the seat. Although she could just use the booster we felt it was safer for her to have a high back seat still and there's not many affordable seats out there that extend high enough for a 7+ year old. We haven't washed the covers yet do I don't know how durable they are.
