I smoothed on a thin layer and reapplied daily. It seemed to help the edges fill in and get the wound to heal. It worked really well for my dog. I carry a tube in my first aid kit on all dog walks and yesterday I put it to good use. A neighbour’s pup ripped her nail right out of the quick on our hike in the woods. The tube I had was from 2017 so I couldn’t get it to come out the end because it was dried hard but I used a knife to cut the other end and it was still usable. I got a big glob on her nail bed and immediately the blood stopped gushing. I’m just in the process of ordering a fresh tube which has unfortunately doubled in price but what can you do!(Original review)We bought this gel after dealing with what felt like a never ending wound on our lab pup's nose. I put a glob on my finger and swiped it on. It protected the area and when it started to flake ff, you just put more right on tip, no need to get the old off. Now I carry it in case of emergencies.
