The slots for each piece to fit together were per cut ready for assembly. There are no assembly instructions but it is relatively easy to assemble, just ensure the smaller pieces with a slot in one side form the top and bottom rails. Each piece then slots together working in a rectangular direction to build up the composter. I used a small rubber mallet to knock each piece together to ensure full interlock. I assembled the composter by myself, but would help if there were two of you. Once assembled it was lifted in place in the corner of the garden and does not look out of place in our relatively small garden area.
