And when I tried to drimmel'em down they started to melt ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome *by T***I on December 17, 2025* Good quality and fast shipping looks great and fits and functions well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy adaptor plates; 5.25" speakers bolt right in, but 6.5" will need minor trimming *by J***. on February 21, 2015* First of all, it is a 6X9" speaker adapter that is designed for you to install 5.25" & 6.5" speakers - so for all the other reviews complaining that their 6.5" speakers don't fit... of course they won't... at least, not straight out of the package. Think about it - if the inner hole was 6.5" in size, then you wouldn't have the 5.25" option, right? I myself was installing oversized 6.5" midbass speakers, and all it took was a Dremel and about 5 minutes per adaptor plate to enlarge the hole to the 6.5" size. I do understand that some people were hoping for a direct bolt-on affair, but there's no way the plates would be able to accommodate the 5.25" option without having that extra material. The adaptor plates themselves have an outer shape that is identical to OEM 6x9", and the plate bolted right up into my door panel where the stock speaker used to be. The plates are nice and thick too - not flimsy at all, and once they're bolted down they's even stiffer. I went ahead and installed a sheet of Dynamat Extreme on the face before I placed the speaker in, and it's a bit overkill but I figured why not. Also, make sure to use some sort of foam gasket around the back edge of the adaptor plate, and around your new speaker basket before you put everything together; the foam will seal your speaker, adaptor plate, and speaker housing for no air leaks and more bass. Although I had no complaints about my experience, I gave the adaptor plates 4 stars instead of 5 for the sake of those who had trouble trimming the plates in order to fit 6.5".
