It is good value for the money. *by D***D on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on 5 December 2019* This comes with a very sparse manual, with insufficient detail. As mentioned by others, there are no batteries provided, but it does come with a memory card. It takes time and effort, and a lot of hit and miss button presses to find out how to operate this thing. If the manual were better a lot of wasted time could be avoided. The resolution of the screen is actually quite good for taking the background pictures. This shows up in the pure optical mode - with no contribution from the heat sensors. Perhaps there is not enough resolution from the heat sensors - though this is uncertain. I tried this above an electric blanket, and it showed that there are definite wires with a regular structure inside, so it does show some structures based on heat. The colour coded images based on temperature can be merged with the optical image, though with even a small amount of heat information embedded in the image, the heat information dominates over the optical and then appears to be of a lower resolution. Partly this may be because even with sharply defined heat sources, the heat tends to leak and smear out over the surroundings, so it may not be just a matter of low resoution by the heat sensors.I really wanted this to try to identify heat leaks in the house, with a view to putting more insulation in. I'm not sure that this is quite the right kind of tool for this job, or if it has the sensitivity required to do that mapping to a high enough standard. However, after an initial bewilderment, and wondering if the tool worked at all, I did get it working. It seems to work. The biggest failing - and it is rather a large one - is the lack of a well written and understandable manual. I think there are still features of this tool which may work, and may be helpful and good to use, but the manual is so poor that it may take a long while and a lot of experimentation to find out the true capabilities of this device. It doesn’t come with batteries and needs x4 AA’s. Once fitted the camera booted up and I was initially underwhelmed. Referring to the manual on how to use it is essential. Once the settings were played with I was able to set the type of view from thermal to a hybrid between a normal view.
