We like it topped with meat sauce or as a side dish to meat, chicken, and fish. It's also delicious with chili. Once cooked, polenta can be set up in a loaf pan, chilled, and then cut into slices. The slices can be fried, baked, or grilled. Polenta fries are delicious! Coarse Italian Polenta is unseasoned. You can add spices, salt, tomatoes, mushrooms, and more to bring flavor to the dish. Basic Cooking Instructions: Bring 1 quart water or stock and 1 teaspoon salt (optional) to a boil. Slowly add 1 cup polenta, whisking constantly. Return to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 40 minutes, or until very thick, stirring every 10 minutes to prevent scorching.
