The arm came with a build in XLR and this worked perfectly to convert my TRS to XLR. The sound quality is excellent, I have not observed any increase in floor noise with using the converter. Rhode makes a cheaper converter that does not support phantom power however for the price it is worth having the extra flexibility for future use. They also have a more expensive converter that also converts to a balanced signal. However this is really only needed if your cables runs are over 20 feet. If your cable runs are below that then you likely would not hear any perceivable difference.
