During that time, after I cleaned the board, i put a little olive oil on the top. Since I use the board almost daily and wash it after every use, I'm not worried about the oil becoming rancid. Now about my review below. Yes, the board will get cuts in it, Yes, the board needs to be oiled. I was thinking that I way overpaid for a just a cutting board, but at Thanksgiving a relative cut up sausage and cheese on the board, and asked where she should put the cut up items. Then she said, let's just leave them on the board, it looks so beautiful and has handles for me to carry. So 1 to 4 Stars.11/3/18 Purchased in October for my new house. Didn't get a chance to use until a week ago, when we moved in. I used it to separate the wings from the breasts, and drumsticks from the thighs on a chicken that was otherwise pre-cut. After using I immediately washed with mild soapy dish cloth and then dried with a towel. There are deep cut marks in the wood, and it looks very dull after just one use. Buy a less expensive board, this one is way overpriced! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Beautiful Butchers Block *by P***T on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 30, 2019* I don’t write many reviews and I probably should since I rely on them when shopping for an item but, I felt there weren’t enough good reviews for this cutting board. I can be pretty critical when it comes to something I purchase and I only read a couple reviews before I bought it because I was in a hurry and I really liked the way it looked, the thickness and that it is an end grain cutting board. It wasn’t until after It had been shipped that I’d read less favorable reviews and started to regret purchasing it. It took almost 3 weeks for delivery. I do live in Alaska but, that’s still a long time. It was shipped and packed well and delivered in excellent condition. It came in a nice box and when taken out I didn’t know what to expect based on all the mixed reviews but, WOW WOW WOW what a beautiful butchers block. I’ve had it over 3 weeks now and used it almost everyday. There are some cut marks in it but, isn’t that to be expected? When I received it I put olive oil on it and all the beautiful, different shades of wood really came through. This is a great cutting board/butchers block and should last a long time. Highly recommend buying some mineral oil at the same time as the board if you don't have any. You will need to oil this board at least once a week for it to stay really nice. Mine had a little bit of glue that I had to sand down. It wasn't putty, maybe wood glue? I don't know, I just quickly sanded it down, washed it, oiled it and it looks fine.
