## Questions & Answers

**Q: Turned this dehumidifier on last night for the first time and all its done is leak all over the floor. I have checked the bung is in place. any ideas?**
A: I run two of these Ebacs full time and have never had a drop on my floors. From the old models, yes, i was forever poking a biro up the tube that leads into the collection tray, to release a build-up of gungy spores that blocked access to the collection vessel. Suggest you make sure that that the tube leading to this vessel is clear and if so run the Ebac with the door open and observe where the water is coming from...good luck.

**Q: What is the electrical power consumption per hour of the 3650e model**
A: I don't own one but I've just been shopping around for one and looked this up myself. 180W (Max), so if your tariff/rate is 13p/kWh then you shouldn't expect it to cost more that 2.34p an hour (£3.93 max, if ran 24/7 in a week). Which is actually really good in comparison to ones £55 quid cheaper; you'd save over £100 compared to one model I looked at that was £130, so worth the extra £50 in that case. However the one at £130 was more stylish/ attractive. Hope this helps, I haven't decided on one yet.https://www.ebac.com/dehumidifiers/3650e-18-litre-white-dehumidifier-di818wg-gbEdit: I don't know why amazon adds these 'Â' symbols before the pound signs, can't remove.

**Q: Can you set it to start when the humidity reaches a certain percentage?**
A: No I don't think so. But if you have it on the sensor setting it only turns on when it reaches a certain humidity. You can't choose what that level is but it does mean you can leave the machine on all day and it turns itself off automatically when the air is dry enough. It's transformed our house. We have a bungalow and I leave our Ms gone on in the hallway. It collects about a container full of water a week and has cured our damp problems. Can't recommend it enough. Worth every penny

**Q: Is this a dessicant model**
A: No but is very efficient

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rising damp, no more!
*by M***F on 13 January 2016*

A pal of mine had a problem with the bungalow she bought. For three years now it absolutely reeked of damp and mould. Finally a plumber discovered that the waste pipe from the kitchen sink was loose and all the waste was dropping straight onto the ground under the kitchen floor. It was so bad you could smell it walking down the drive to the house and of course, its very unhealthy to live in that environment, so I got her one of these dehumidifiers as an experiment to se if we could dry the problem out faster.Given its winter in northern england and the relative humidity outside with all the rain and flooding is mostly 100% I thought this might help speed things up. For a couple of quid I got one of those thermometer humidity meters from amazon and when we started her house was reading 56% humidity. High up in the normal range of 40% to 60% For reference my own house reads between 32% and 44% upstairs. The Ebac arrived well packaged with good (proper English) instructions, but really its just a simple case of putting it on the floor, plugging it in and pressing the 'on' button. It starts off in 'smart' mode where it will come on and off as it sees fit, a bit like a fridge. Noise wise I'd say its the same as a fridge. Mostly you just wouldn't notice it.So. Day one. She puts it on at 7 o clock in the morning on the way out to work and that evening comes in and checks it. The first day it had 1 1/2 pints to be tipped out of the 2+ pint container. Very easy to do by the way, not fiddly at all. And then before going to bed emptied out another pint. This was a big surprise - just that you could get so much water out of the atmosphere in the house in such a short time. I had tested it prior in my much drier house and only got out a teacup or so. This been going on for two weeks now, and every day the humidity reading has been going down (currently at 46%, down from 56%) and the smell has been going too. She reckons she can't smell anything at all now. Still tipping out a litre a day.She actually quite looks forward to coming and seeing how much moisture has been taken out of the building and what the humidity reading is. Might sound strange but when you've lived with bad smells and unexplained damp in your new house for so long its a total relief. The unit itself is about the size and weight of a well stuffed airline cabin bag. Any normally mobile person can move it round but if you're going to be moving it all the time (and you probably don't need to) then the optional castors might help, but we didn't bother. I think some models have wheels and an inbuilt humidity meter, but they'll cost more.Day to day you just leave it on - maybe switch it off at night - and every so often tip it out. Over time the amount reduces as the atmosphere dries out. And also it switches off more often and for longer periods, saving energy. Haven't seen the affect on electricity bills yet, but what price your health!? Anyway not expecting that to be too bad. If it fills up, it just stops and shows you its full on the display. Opening the door and tipping out is a quick no-fuss one-handed operation.Expecting now to leave it on another couple of weeks till mid Feb maybe and until the humidity hits round 40% and then we'll see. She lives alone so doesn't create that much moisture. Its sited in the hallway and the bungalow is large detached two bed with around 1000 sq ft and it seems to handle that size with ease. By the way, its unobtrusive and most people probably wouldn't notice its there. As always the two enemies of mould and damp are heat and ventilation, and the friend is a water supply. Cold wet and unventilated parts of the house are the most likely to attract damp. And of course if there is a leak or plumbing problem somewhere that needs fixing first. Damp loves busy houses with lots of people cooking washing clothes-drying and showering with the heating off and the windows closed! Its been interesting seeing how the humidity varies with different things going on around the house. Recommend getting a meter for the couple of quid it costs.Overall, very pleased with the Ebac and it's doing the job required without a hiccup. Ebac is a solid manufacturer it seems with a lot to lose if they get it wrong.Mostly you don't notice its there and then you empty it, and for some reason that bit is really really satisfying! Sad or what?!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very happy. (Edit after using it for 1 1/2 years)
*by A***. on 21 October 2016*

This is an amazing product! It was recommended to me by friends from work, who had condensation an damp problems in their homes. So did I - it's only a small 2 bedroom apartment, ground floor, fine in summer, but in winter I'd always get some "black corners" in the bedrooms.I only bought this device, and already can say how amazed I am by the amount of water this little machine extracts from the air. I did lots of research before I went for this dehumidifier, and I have a feeling it's been the right choice.I don't think it's noisy at all (it's sitting on carpet in my hallway), my fridge is louder at times.Highly recommended.——-Edit after two winters using this: still perfect! And I’m still surprised how much it collects in a small 2 bed apartment! I have to empty it every 2 days - but the black spots in the bedrooms never came back! And this is a found floor apartment in rainy Ireland! I just leave it running and doing it’s thing and don’t bother with switching it on and off. It knows what it’s doing. I don’t move it either though, some of my friends were not as satisfied since they were carrying it upstairs and downstairs all the time. Leave it in a central spot and leave it alone is my advice.Still highly recommended!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ EBAC - No more rain in my attic !
*by M***E on 27 February 2018*

Bought to correct a long standing humidity problem in my house - mouldy windows, bathroom ceilings etc.Wow - wish I had bought this years ago (well I probably could not have as this model is relatively recent) - really makes a difference to condensation.Works straight out of the box - we went from 70% Relative Humidity to average of 45 - 48% over a week or so - this has stabilised at this level and is massively improved vs last year so I feel happy it is the dehumidifier rather than just the weather changing.Whilst there is a tiny amount of condensation on the windows this is a tiny fraction of previous amounts, no "attic rain" and as a bonus a laundry mode to dry clothes quicker. All in all a very solid product that does what it says on the box - as a bonus it is British designed and made.I also bought a humidity gauge at the same time to see current and historic levels (over 24hrs) and see what rooms were most affected which was useful to confirm suspicions.
