Review: Yes they actually work, for me at least! - Over-supination is much less common than over-pronation, but it's clearly what I have. For as far back as I can remember the soles of my shoes have always worn on much more heavily on the outer edge, and over the last twenty or so years of training I've been prone to Achilles trouble, sore heels, sore knees and tight calves. For the last 18 months or so I've been taking my running more seriously, but despite always wearing appropriate shoes and taking great care over stretching, strengthening, massaging and icing my injuries have just been steadily ramping up, and I've been forced to reduce my training volume and intensity. Recently I tried a pair of these supination insoles in my running shoes, and little by little my training is getting back on track, while at the same time I'm now winning out against my injuries. I've just ordered another pair for my walking boots, and may get yet another pair for my every day shoes. Some points to note about the insoles: 1) They are fairly thick, so they're best used with shoes with a good deep heel cup. They were a no-go in my Innov8 trail shoes for example, but work great in my Brooks Ghost 3s 2) Expect them to feel a little weird for the first few days, but in a week you'll hardly notice them. You may become acutely aware of the outer edge-bias when using any footwear without them. 3) The packaging is somewhat generic, so if you find yourself wondering if you really have the correct insoles, just look at the heel wedges. If they sit under the outside edges of your heels then you're good to go. 4) Cutting them to size - if necessary - should be easy as there are guide marks on the underside of each insole. 5) This is the 2mm version, there's also a 4mm version for severe over-supinators. No doubt the best approach would have been for me to visit a podiatrist and get specific inserts made up, but at £25 a pop these were cheaper, faster and they're working well enough for me.
Review: Supination insole - Historically I have had to replace work shoes primarily every 6 months or so after the lateral spect of the heels and lateral edges of my shoes wear down quite rapidly. I have never given it much thought until i started going to the gym alot more, at which point i began getting intense shin splints, foot, and calf pain. the pain at times was incredible and took a good 5 minutes to settle down before i could recommence my excercise. I have suffered from right hip leg and back pain for about 2 years, and in retrospect i can see why i was getting the pain. A sport scientist friend of mine queried how i walked, so i investigated on google, and all evidence pointed towards supination of my feet...(i.e there is a slight roll outwards when i take a step) the opposite of this is over- Pronation, where the foot rolls inwards. So ... i came onto desertcart, seen these...supination corrector insoles and ordered them. I have been breaking them in for the past week or so and immediately could tell how it was influencing my gait ...specifically my right foot (which has worse supination to the left), i feel it is being forced to walk 'properly'. I am only wearing these insoles for work at the moment. yes it is slightly uncomfortable by the end of the day but i can imagine this getting better with time. When i get to the gym on a night time, i dont wear the insoles but i can feel the difference in my feet and legs, i am walking a bit better on the treadmil and the pain is non existent currently. Whether this is co-incidence im not sure but again...time will tell. I believe these things work, and i am confident that they will help with my problem.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So far so good!
*by N***E on 30 January 2012*

In my mid 30's and have been playing rugby of late and noticed a lot of knee pain. Did a bit of research and was introduced to the issue of under-pronation or supination as it's called. One of the most telling signs is a heavy wearing down of the outside heel on your shoes, as well as your foot hanging over the side of the shoe. I had a look on line for potential orthontic solutions to go alongside stretching and careful footware selection. I came accross these insoles that include a 2 degree wedge in the heel. I purchased and followed the instructions for a gradual introduction over a week. I've now been wearing them for a month or two and the difference they have made is clear from my perspective. Just looking at my shoes shows that my weight is now where it needs to be, and my knee pain has been reduced by at least 80%. I've since bought 3 pairs of these insoles. I'm not saying they will work for everyone, but worth a try. Quality seems good, I'm 17 stone and they are standing up to the wear and tear of rugby and an active lifestyle very well.
