Three Types of Fruit Tree's Apple Tree Apple trees (Malus domestica) are widely grown for their delicious and versatile fruit. There are many apple varieties, each with its own flavour, texture, and ripening time. Apple trees require a certain number of chill hours in winter to produce fruit. They are typically planted in early spring or fall and can thrive in temperate climates. Orange Tree Orange trees (Citrus sinensis) are evergreen fruit trees that belong to the Rutaceae family. They are known for their juicy, citrus fruits that are high in vitamin C. Varieties of oranges include Valencia, Navel, and Blood oranges, each with its own taste and characteristics. Orange trees thrive in warm subtropical or tropical regions and require well-drained soil and regular watering. Peach Tree Peach trees (Prunus persica) produce delicious, fuzzy-skinned fruits with a juicy and sweet flesh. They are deciduous trees that belong to the rose family (Rosaceae). Peach trees come in different varieties, including freestone and clingstone peaches, and they can have yellow, white, or red flesh. They require full sun, well-drained soil, and regular pruning to maintain their shape and productivity. What makes our products unique? Locally grown: Direct Plants grows their plants on their own farm in Norfolk, UK. This means that their plants are acclimated to the local climate and conditions, which can result in stronger plants that are more likely to thrive in their customers' gardens. Wide variety: Direct Plants offers a wide selection of plants, shrubs and trees, which can appeal to a range of gardening styles and preferences. 4 steps to plant a Fruit Tree Choose the Right Tree and Location Select a fruit tree variety that is suitable for your climate and growing conditions. Consider factors such as chill hours, soil pH, sunlight requirements, and available space. Find a suitable location in your garden or orchard that provides adequate sunlight, good air circulation, and well-drained soil. Avoid low-lying areas prone to frost or areas with poor drainage. Prepare the Planting Hole Dig a planting hole that is wide and deep enough to accommodate the tree's root system. The hole should be about twice as wide and slightly shallower than the root ball or container. Loosen the soil in the planting hole and remove any weeds or grass. If the soil is heavy or poorly drained, consider adding organic matter, such as compost, to improve soil structure and drainage. Plant the Tree Carefully remove the tree from its container or unwrap the root ball if it's bare-root. Gently spread out the roots and position the tree in the centre of the planting hole. Ensure that the bud union (graft) is above the soil line. Backfill the hole with the excavated soil, firming it gently around the roots to eliminate air pockets. Avoid compacting the soil too firmly, as it can hinder root growth. Water and Mulch After planting, thoroughly water the tree to settle the soil and provide moisture to the roots. Apply a layer of organic mulch, such as wood chips or straw, around the base of the tree, extending a few inches from the trunk. Mulch helps conserve moisture, suppress weeds, and regulate soil temperature. Regularly water the tree during the establishment period, especially during dry spells. Provide deep, infrequent watering's rather than frequent shallow ones. Fruit Trees About Structure: Fruit trees typically have a sturdy, upright trunk that branches out into a network of limbs and smaller branches. The height and spread of a fruit tree can vary depending on the specific variety and age of the tree. Some fruit trees have a single central leader, while others may have a more open and spreading growth habit. Leaves: Most fruit trees have broad, deciduous leaves that provide ample surface area for photosynthesis. The shape and size of the leaves can vary among different fruit tree species and even within varieties. The leaves are typically green and may change colour in the fall before they drop off for the winter. Flowers: Fruit trees produce beautiful and often fragrant flowers. These flowers are responsible for the pollination process, where pollen is transferred from the male parts of the flower to the female parts, leading to fruit development. The appearance of the flowers varies depending on the fruit tree species, but they are usually vibrant and attract pollinators like bees, butterflies, and other insects. Fruits: The most distinguishing feature of fruit trees is, of course, their fruits. The fruits come in various shapes, sizes, colors, and flavors, depending on the tree species and cultivars. Common fruit tree varieties include apples, oranges, peaches, pears, cherries, plums, and many more. The fruits can be consumed fresh, used in cooking and baking, or preserved for later use. Lifecycle: Fruit trees are perennial plants, meaning they live for multiple years. They go through annual cycles of dormancy during the winter, followed by the emergence of new growth in the spring, flowering in the summer, and fruit development in the late summer or fall. Proper care and maintenance, including pruning, fertilization, and pest control, are essential to ensure healthy growth and maximize fruit production.

Review: Quality plant - I would buy from this seller again since the plant was delivered in good condition, about three feet high and healthy looking. Since I planted it, tiny buds are appearing and it looks well. Altogether I am very pleased with it because, as a very amateur gardener I didn't have too many high expectations and certainly didn't expect the quality plant that I received.
Review: Ready to fruit…….4ft tree!😡 - I bought this tree for someone I care for for much as a memory tree, I’ve looked at other fruit trees but eventually decided to go with this tree as it says ready to fruit. I didn’t see my friend for a few days, her daughter planted it, I was shocked, it’s a twig! No buds, no blossom, no care instructions, just a twig in a box. Every other fruit tree I have looked at has buds or blossom on. There is nothing to indicate the age of the tree. I could have got two beautiful budding trees of the same size from Costco, this tree is a huge disappointment, I will keep a close eye on it. Just sad as it was meant to be special and it’s not.

## Features

- These are BARE ROOTED plants which can be planted from the end of October until May and will be dispatched as soon as the weather turns cold and they become dormant. The dispatch date depends on the Autumn temperature and varies from year to year.
- Victoria is a versatile plum tree, producing fruit which can be eaten, used for cooking and for jams.It produces a heavy crop which often needs to be thinned if fruits are to be produced each year. Left to its own devices the sheer weight of fruit may well break the branches of the tree.
- Harvest between Mid-August to late September. If you are growing only one fruit tree, then this is the one to plant. It is self fertile and will pollinate with any other variety of plum. Trees are grown on St Julien A rootstock which will grow to 10-12ft max
- As with all trees from the prunus family, the leaves will start to appear autumnal and slightly shabby from mid July onwards. This is not a disease, but is mainly due to this years contrasting weather conditions and will not affect the performance of the tree.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will it bear fruit this year**
A: I would expect it to yield fruit from year 2

**Q: how high will it grows is it suitable to grow in dust bin size pot**
A: My plum tree was delivered to me at 6ft tall already. I have put it straight into the ground. I would say it needs a very big pot if its going to be put in one as it grows to around 10-12ft. Its now starting to sprout & looks like it will also be quite bushy so get something sturdy to hold it!!!

**Q: what food do i use for plum trees**
A: You don't need a lot of feeding, but l give them a bit of bonemeal, it does take a few years before your tree is at its best, but with these Victoria's they are well worth it, l have 6 tree of various stages, wonderful.

**Q: Can I plant it out now or is it too late for this season?**
A: No it's not too late. I bought my daughter this some weeks/months ago. It is a fine tree and flourishing. Last week she planted out some more fruit trees .bought cheaply. but much smaller than the Victoria plum and they are doing fine.It was a good ,strong tree and packed well.Plant in good soil or compost and water in well.
