You can take the fixture completely apart and convert it but it requires some elbow grease and resourcefulness. I wanted the lamp shade part for plug-in UV plant lights so I ordered 2 used-like-new pendants for $12 to experiment. The first step is to dismantle the lamp shade. You can separate the canopy and rods by sliding the wiring through. This is easy. Next, unscrew the socket inside the lamp shade and pull the socket out (what the bulb screws into). The socket is attached to the wiring, continue to pull the wiring through the hole on the top of the lamp shade. Also super easy. The next part is harder. There’s a metal housing around where the socket was. It’s a metal tube that looks like it might be permanently attached but it’s not, it’s a separate piece. The housing is secured by a screw and bolt, the bracket that the socket was screwed into is attached as well. The bolt is glued and it takes strong hands to loosen, this part is not easy. Once the bolt is off, remove the screw, bracket, and the socket housing. Now you should have just the lamp shade with a half inch hole on top. You may have to construct your own electrical, it’s not hard. Or, you can find a plug-in swag kit that allows you to remove the wiring from the socket. The trouble is the tiny hole in the top of the metal lamp shade. You’ll need to be able to feed the cord through the hole somehow and ensure there’s enough support for the weight of the shade and light bulb (In my case the UV lamps are HEAVY). YouTube tutorials are a good resource if you want to learn about wiring. Hope this helps. **Q: Is there a 3-light version?** A: I believe there is a three light version although I do not suggest it **Q: Is there a matching bigger one to go over table?** A: I’m not sure on that but I think I seen one in a different size **Q: Are the rods telescoping, so they can hang less than 9.5 inches apart? Or is the 9.5 inch spacing the only option?** A: Thank you for your question. The rods are not telescoping and are not adjustable.
