The classic 90s car radio returns! The relaunched cult car radio “Frankfurt RCM 82 DAB” with many new features! Over the years, some models have become true cult objects. Now we present the new interpretation of the popular 1-DIN car radio and combine the unique selling points of the 90s model with new technologies and functions. The result is the Blaupunkt “Frankfurt RCM 82 DAB”. Its operating concept, simple design and crystal-clear reception contributed significantly to the popularity of the original Frankfurt RCM 82. In the new edition, we have adopted the styling of the original model, but at the same time given the radio a modern Vario Colour illumination for the keys and display. Thanks to the Blaupunkt Codem IV FM RDS and DAB+ tuner, first-class reception also remains a strength of the new youngtimer car radio. New are the numerous interfaces, including two USB ports, an Aux connection and a microSD slot. Audio streaming via Bluetooth is also not a dream of the future for the returning legend. Moreover, the radio bears the “Made for iPhone/iPod” label and ensures appropriate compatibility. The audio sources can all be selected directly via buttons, and many other settings can also be accessed directly at the touch of a button. Further functions are located in the clearly structured menu, which is presented in German or English. All settings are permanently stored even if the battery is disconnected. This means that the entertainer from the 90s has arrived in the present. The new “Frankfurt RCM 82 DAB” has a short installation depth – ideal for youngtimers with shortened installation slots. But it is not only the car radio itself that takes the user on a journey through time; the packaging of the device has also been elaborately designed and modelled on the original. From the cassette compartment to modern media The interfaces of the media port enable you to conveniently play your music collection via microSD, USB, audio input or even with an iPod/iPhone. Small pen drives and microSDs can also be used with the flap closed to preserve the original look.

Review: Period Perfect with great functionality and sound - Perfect radio for anyone that wants to enjoy modern upgrades (Bluetooth, Phone, etc) and great sound without compromising the esthetic of their car. I purchased the Blaupunkt Frankfurt in an effort to find a radio with a correct look and could not be happier. I recommend this radio for all vintage German cars - especially Porsche 964, 993, 986, 987, 996, or 997. Easy to install provided you purchase the correct wiring harness. I installed mine in a Porsche 986 and used the Metra 70-187 wiring harness with no issues. However, for Porsches manufactured in 1998 you need to reverse the yellow and red (constant and auxiliary power) wires (search Rennlist and other sites to determine if this applies to your year).
Review: Great device but overpriced - There's not a lot of competition for this thing, so they're able to charge a premium price. Is it worth it? Well, that's up to you to decide. Is it nice? Absolutely. I installed this unit in my gray market Citroen XM, and it fits perfectly, both literally and figuratively. It looks every bit the part of a 1990 car stero, while still adding bluetooth streaming, BT phone audio, and SD card functionality. It's great to be able to listen to my 90s playlist while still getting Google Maps instructions over the sound. This unit is a nice upgrade from the Bremen they were selling last year. I have one of those in my other Radwood-era car, and this one feels much higher quality. The knobs don't wiggle around like they do in the Bremen, the buttons feel "clickier" and firmer, and the display is crisper. It all but disappears in direct sunlight, but isn't that what 90s decks did? I'll spare that criticism since it seems era-appropriate. If your goal is to stream Depeche Mode on your way to a Radwood meetup, this thing is perfect. Whether you agree with the $500 pricetag is up to you. Overpriced? I sure think so, but I bought it anyways. Edit: a year later I'd like to update this. After replacing every speaker in the car and upgrading the front to separates, it still sounded terrible. Flat, no clarity, zero low end. I ended up swapping this head unit for a Kenwood and magically the highs were clear and crisp, and the range came back. This is a poor quality unit in a pretty package. For the price it should be better.

**Q: Will this fit a 1986 mb 560 sel (w126)?**
A: I put this in a 1983 Porsche 944 and it fit perfectly.

**Q: Will this fit a 1986 Porsche 911?**
A: Yes. it fits all cars with a single DIN unit. G50's, 964. 993, etc

**Q: Does this radio control the factory e36 cd changer?**
A: I have this in an E30, but the manual says it will not control a CD changer.

**Q: How far does the volume button stick out?**
A: About a half inch, which I think works and looks good.

Perfect radio for anyone that wants to enjoy modern upgrades (Bluetooth, Phone, etc) and great sound without compromising the esthetic of their car. I purchased the Blaupunkt Frankfurt in an effort to find a radio with a correct look and could not be happier. I recommend this radio for all vintage German cars - especially Porsche 964, 993, 986, 987, 996, or 997. Easy to install provided you purchase the correct wiring harness. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Retro-ish style and quality is worth it

Pricey as hell, but there isn't another head unit that I would want for my 1994 Jaguar XJS. It looks (and fits) like an OEM unit; not those bizarro after-market units with all the childish flashing lights. This connected easily with an adapter harness found on eBay (had to switch around a couple of wires, but no big deal). Bluetooth works perfectly with my old iPhone, and it sounds great.
