Review: We laughed a lot! - My family - ages 12-adult - loves games. Deadly Dowagers holds up well in our collection. We are long-time fans of games like Settlers of Catan, Dominion, Feast for Odin, Puerto Rico, etc. Deadly Dowagers is not as long as some we enjoy (like Through the Ages, which takes ages to play), and this is a good thing. The rules are clear, the art is lovely and in character with the plot, the game pieces feel nice, and the historical backstory of the situation of the characters in the game is wryly funny. ("Except that you will inherit your fortune. We cannot even earn ours." ... "Perhaps Margaret is right. Piracy is our only option.") Recommended for ages 12+ because younger kids may not get the joke. (Use of deadly implements to speed your inheritance upon the demise of your husband is a bad idea, not just because of the infamy that accrues to you thereby.) Additionally recommended that reassurance be offered to any husbands present that their wives are not, in fact, dreaming of an inheritance.

My family - ages 12-adult - loves games. Deadly Dowagers holds up well in our collection. Absolutely great game with great art. Also, perfect game for either national women's month or Halloween season! The mechanics were smooth and you get into a rhythm as you play. It's nice that everyone takes their turns at the same time, it cuts down on the time a lot. The humor is dark and delightful in this game as well. Highly recommend!
