The adhesive has worked just fine, even after pulling it off and repositioning once when I was setting it up (I have a Lexus with soft leather-like dash). The only negative was that I was inadvertently putting scratches on my dashboard with my thumbnail as I was placing my phone in the holder with one hand. Now I make sure to carefully insert the phone with both hands, not touching the dash.
