I loved the way we got to see the characters’ different personalities interact with each other! This book has educational potential (especially for kids interested in unusual animals) and it delightfully asks readers to extend their imaginations. The mystery of the book was also well-done: the way the story unfolds allows readers to really feel the suspense build as more animals go missing (but without being too scary) I was genuinely curious, and impressed that I was in the dark (Nocturnals pun intended) while reading too! My kids are 3 & 5 and this is the first chapter book I’ve read with them at bed time. I wanted to try a chapter book with them & since one likes Pangolins & the other likes Foxes, hoped they’d get into this story. It’s a cute read & chapters are short. My little one likes it more but they both stopped complaining after a few days. It’s made bedtime a little easier as they know I want to read this book versus going thru the hullabaloo of each of them picking out 1 or 2 books & elongating the whole process.
