A little practice is also needed to quickly unbuckle, put the chain around the bike and then padlock it - and to reverse the process so that the padlock is not on the same side as the retaining clip, which prevents you securing the chain around your waist! But again that's only practice. Surprisingly, the weight is not really noticeable on rides of about five miles, particularly when wearing a few layers of clothes. I think this is an excellent product and I shall use it all the time for my commuting bike, which I leave with three locks securing it, and when touring, when it can sit in a pannier if need be. Back to front though. Frame to frame. Hiplok locks are great. Don’t notice weight of chain around the waist but you will in a bag. Great chain but I use this as well as kryptonite evolution lock chain £70 same price & chain is longer, same thickness. Angle grinder is needed to cut. At least 10% spend on locks/chains of the bike price So make it hard as possible for the teeefffsssss!!! **Q: Can this be used as a shed lock?** A: You can if you want. You’ll need an angle grinder to cut through it. It has a belt clip attached so you can carry around your waist or across your body. That’ll have to be cut off. Maybe get a security chain from a hardware store & a master lock maybe cheaper. Or a gun…that’ll be the best deterrent…extreme maybe. **Q: How secure is this? Will it stand up to bolt cutters?** A: It is sold secure gold standard. So meets those standards but just from look and feel the visual deterrent is profound. I bought for my bicycle but it is way beyond expectations and without attacking it with a grinder, I expect it to perform to it’s standard. It looks to be better than the lock and chain I use for my motorcycle, and the waist belt storage while cycling is great, usually have to take bag for bike security. **Q: What's the difference between All Black, and Superbright that justifies £27 difference?** A: It’s all about supply and demand. The all black has been discounted as most people opt for the superbright. Both exactly the same lock but you’ll be seen better in the dark with the superbright. It uses a deep slot rail key which makes it much more difficult to be opened with a lockpick. Right out of the box it comes with three keys with a free online registration allowing you to purchase more if your current keys ever go missing. Wearing it around my waist is comfortable although it does sag whilst walking. However, when on the bike it remains planted and secure and doesn't affect the cornering ability whatsoever. The chains are thick and durable and wide enough to securely fit between my rear wheel and frame, and with a gold rating, this lock brings the guarantee of having the best protection level available.
