I've been using these in my daughter's lunch for almost 5 years now.  Yes, writing a note would be easy to do, but on those days when I'm rushed or not feeling well, I just grab one from the drawer and I feel good knowing she'll get a little boost at lunch time.  She always comes home and tells me about the joke on the back too.  : )

I have been using these for my kids for 10 years and even my 18 year old still loves to get them in her lunch.  This has been a great tradition.  I love the sayings and they enjoy sharing the fun facts with their friends at lunch.
