I first tried extra thin layers applied with a sponge like you would with any other leather balm. this only mildly stained healthy leather and did nothing to the rubbed off parts. Then i tried applying thin but opaque layer and leaving it to dry off for a few hours. And it worked. i didnt find need to buff after as leather soaked everything up.
