Only a thin chain (like the one provided) will fit through the small eyelet. Care must be taken when opening the Locket so as not to lose the inner heart shaped rings and tiny transparent photo 'covers' which hold the photos in place well but tend to slip off when the Locket is opened. I love the Locket. It's beautiful.
