In Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico our family & most people there drink this every morning instead of coffee & it is actually stronger & healthier than coffee because it is a different stimulant. For us the tradition of drinking it with water comes directly from the Mayan indigenous people in Yucatán, Mexico. You can buy it in patties like this which by the way is the most authentic we have ever found in the United States!! In Yucatán we prepare & make the chocolate patties at home. We buy the co-co beans in bulk, roast them (it's all in how you roast them too like coffee) , we grind them into a powder & add cinnamon & make them into little patties on wax paper & store them with out any sugar. Then to drink we break a patty up & add boiling water into a type of wooden old fashioned blender so to speak like the Mayas use. There is a hole in the lid so that a wooden rod with wooden wings on the end is used to mix/beat the chocolate & water until it is frothy & foamy at the top. Next we pour it into a tea cup & add sugar to taste--1 of your patties makes two tea cups because you want to drink it really strong. **Q: is this imported from Mexico ?** A: Nope, it's manufactured in Somerville, MA. **Q: Is there milk or sugar in this product? Does it dissolve like regular chocolate when heating it with almond milk? Thank you!** A: Has sugar. Dissolves well in all liquids. We have used it w/ almonds milk.
