Is it clear so the end result is whatever colour the underlying wood is or will it change the colour?** A: With all oils, it will slightly change the tone of the wood to a slightly warmer tone. The clear will change the colour the least as it is a clear tone and not tinted. You can generally tell when it needs doing. Ignore some other comments here. It won't prevent scratches, it's oil! It will be sticky if you don't wipe off the excess as per the instructions. This is not sticky at all. **Q: I cant open my can, i last used it about six months ago. i drilled a hole in the top to get the oil out. can i store it in a plastic bottle?** A: I had the same problem. Once opened it was poured into a small plastic washed out pop bottle.
