The leather cover came loose from the metal knob underneath. The cover would spin free and the “recline” function was hard to use.I couldn’t use spray adhesive or epoxy to fix the loose leather cover because there is a nut underneath holding a metal knob that adjusts the recliner tension mechanism. The leather cover needs to “grab” the metal knob but also be removable.I pondered how to attach the cover when the idea of friction tape occurred to me. It was an ideal solution.I removed the dried out foam and adhesive around the metal knob under the leather knob cover. I gave the metal knob 4 wraps of friction tape and worked the leather cover in place.Perfect! The friction tape is sticky enough to grab, it’s not permanent so I can remove the cover down the road and the recliner works perfect! I have never experienced a friction tape having this strong a chemical odor. After having remove the plastic wrapper and left outside I am now able to have it on my workbench.
