However, I've been very limited by the lack of straight track and the fact that we have only one switch between the two sets: any branch off this switch is a branch to a dead-end which is not a lot of fun. This track extension kit provides three additional switches, lots of straight track, a raised platform, and more curve pieces than you'll probably ever need. The quality and design is the same as the original sets, so everything is compatible. The accompanying photo show how I was able to add a working branch to our existing sets by adding just one orange switch and three turquoise straight tracks. I didn't even need to use the turquoise curves; I had curves left over from the original sets. And the bucket is still full of more pieces and two more switches and the pl;atform. It is a very great sized track for a beginning track. The amount of times he has taken apart, and put the track back together I am surprised how well it is holding up. He gets a lot of toys. This is by far his favorite. I like the builder ones because I can set him up tracks anywhere in whatever shape works for the room at that time. He loves putting trains, plus his toy cars on the tracks. His toy animals walk on the tracks. The tracks has become a huge part of his imaginative play. Anytime I put them away, he pulls them out piece by piece asking me to put it back together- so I’ve just started leaving the track together and out. He likes to sit in the center of the tracks and even play with other toys next to the toy tracks.
