## Description

In competitive gaming, every frame matters. Introducing Acer's XV271U gaming monitor - the WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution monitor that can keep up with your game play. This AMD FreeSync Premium monitor takes gameplay to the next level of smooth, the game’s frame rate is determined by your graphics card, not the fixed refresh rate of the monitor, giving you a serious competitive edge. Plus, users can enjoy comfortable viewing experience while gaming via flicker-less, low dimming and ComfyView display. The design saves space on your desk and lets you place multiple monitors side by side to build a seamless big-screen display. (UM.HX1AA.301).

Review: Good quality WQHD resolution monitor for gaming or general PC use - I bought this monitor to replace one that got damaged by accident. This monitor has everything I was looking for, and I was surprised with the easy height and tilt adjust (vertically and sideways). There is a bit of assembly required, but it it rather quick and easy - there are three main assemblies - the weighty base, the vertical adjustable stem and the monitor itself. The vertical stem easily screws into the heavy metal base (the screw even has a thumb grip), then that assembly easily mounts to the back of the monitor with a simple but sturdy spring loaded latch. Then connect the monitor to your PC - I highly recommend to use the display port (DP) connection if your graphics card supports it (most have more than one). There is only one DP connection on the monitor, but two HDMI - I wish it was the other way around since I have two PCs I wanted to connect to this monitor. They do supply an HDMI and DP cable - nice touch. There is a set of switches on the lower rear right side - you can feel your way around without having to look there as the joystick knob is distinctly shaped. You can use the joystick to change all of the settings except power. In use, you don't have to touch the power button as the monitor turns off/on automatically when a signal is detected on the video ports. The height is easily adjustable with a light push up or down. Horizontally the monitor can swivel a bit too with a vertical tilt adjustment as well. I really liked the ease with which this monitor is adjustable. The base has a fair amount of weight to it so it won't easily tilt and fall off the table as my previous monitor did - that's a big plus for me. The display is bright, crisp, flicker free and very clear with resolution of WQHD 2560x1440 - which is just right - 4K would be too much but this is perfect being right between FHD and 4K. My operating systems - both Windows and Linux Mint were able to automatically detect and set the WQHD resolution, but do check the refresh rate - it will default to 60 Hz - this monitor is capable of 180 Hz on DP, but "only" 144 Hz on HDMI which is one reason I recommended using the DP connection. You can set/check the refresh rates and resolution from the "display settings" of Windows or Linux. The only disappointment is the built in speaker audio quality which sounds muffled and tinny - definitely use external speakers or headphones either connected to the PC or to the audio out jack on the bottom of the monitor. This was a minor criteria for me since I use headphones anyway.
Review: Outstanding Value at $199 - I've noticed a distinct lack of good technical reviews for this specific model, so I'm gonna go into a bit of detail here. If you want the tl;dr: If you see it on sale, buy with confidence. Color Reproduction/Panel Quality: Color volume is outstanding - not just for the sale price, but in general. Color accuracy is very good to my naked eye after setting picture mode to normal from the default of warm, requiring no calibration whatsoever. Contrast performance seems good for an IPS panel. There is some backlight bleed in the lower left corner, but it's invisible against any color other than deep black. Freesync functions well with zero flicker but clamps the overdrive setting at Normal, so most users aren't going to be seeing the advertised response time. Still, input lag is imperceptible and I have thus far been unable to detect any ghosting or overshoot. The advertised brightness of 250 nits appears to be correct. I'm in a moderately lit room and find any setting over 84 a bit uncomfortable with this panel, but I could see it failing to measure up in a room with lots of natural light. Ergonomics: The stand is of decent quality and wobble is kept to a minimum, though you probably will notice some if your typing surface isn't perfectly stable. All movement options are accounted for, though it needs to be said that the panel can't be lifted very high. Very tall users may wish to invest in a fashionable box to set this thing on. HDR Performance: Very good for this price point with surprisingly high color volume and decent handling of contrast for an IPS panel, but SDR color volume is so good that the HDR mode ends up looking inferior by comparison. As ever, outstanding HDR is the only HDR worth using and you won't find that here. Overall: If this monitor holds up over the years I'll most likely be buying Acer again when it comes time to upgrade. This panel feels incredibly premium for the price I paid ($199) and you can tell that great care was taken to provide a clean, color accurate image straight out of the box - most users will be happy to simply enable freesync and set color temp to normal.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this 2k freesync monitor work with g-sync compatibility? i have win10, gtx 1080ti and latest nvidia drivers but the g-sync options don't populate**
A: Yes, If you go to the Nvidia Control Panel you can enable GSync with these Monitors at 1440p. You need to use DisplayPort cables. Doesnt seem to work with HDMI so just a heads up. Have 2 of them with GSync enabled on a 3060TI

**Q: is this able to reach 1440p 144hz through HDMI?**
A: yes, i went ahead and read a comment to use a DP DisplayPort Cable, iVANKY DP Cable 6.6ft/2M, [4K@60Hz, 2K@144Hz But resulting in a washed put Screen even after trying to set up all colors, in the monitor, and Nvidia control panel it did nothing, almost went as far as being disappointed was going to send the monitor back. BUT I thought I will just use the cable I was using for a 24" Dell monitor previously using, soon as I plugged it in looked great, and Ran 144Hz it an HDMI 2.0 why the DP 1.2 didn't work for me have no idea but will send the DP cable back for a refund, so one comment reads, the HDMI 2.0 is capped at 60fps maybe his GPU card, I'm running an EVGA 2070 8GB it's a decent card, also read one person with 2060 there running also @ 144Hz with an HDMI cable, truth is I haven't digged into what a DP cable what would the differences be, but will look into. But as for now its a very Nice Monitor and as for me I'm really happy, still have to set all the Brightness color a little better but for the moment looks great, can turn off the Monitors speakers, and use ur headphones, I tried to jack in my headset with the speakers on but didn't work, but who knows maybe you can use both without turning one-off, I just got my monitor today 6/27/2021, I recommend always buy or try buying when it comes to electronic Brand New, if not and find a good deal just make sure where, and whom ur buying from if used, and you suspect ur package looked like it may be a return, well send it back, cuz ur paid for a "NEW" item so expect to get a new item, well thas all folk and I will or may update this in 6 months to rewrite hows the Gaming monitor holding up.

**Q: So I'm seeing some say this isn't g-sync compatible and some say it is. Is there a setting or update you need to do to make it g-sync?**
A: Ian i didn't see the G-sync option in Nvidias Control Panel, I did see a video tutorial on the best setting for a gaming monitor, that person did have the G-sync option in the Nvidia control panel I'm thinking since it's only a compatible Gaming monitor for G-sync, and not fully, guess thas why the G-sync option did not appear, but its like you said we need do nothing to enable for G-sync but you know makes some people scratch the heads, cuz want to be able to enable it physically, but I don't mind I still very happy with the monitor big difference from my previous DELL 24" monitor even that was an ok monitor at 1080P healed me very well until a drop or with Superglue or eeUvresin landed on bottom of the screen was minor but Bugged me, is when i bought this Acer, for $300 bucks its fair, Ian thank you for the vote of confidence on we need not do nothing about having to Enable G-Sync in Nvidias Control Panle i was one too the Scrach my Head Lol

**Q: Can this be mounted on a vesa mount system?**
A: The monitor has the vesa mount standard 100x100mm. You can take this mount > topproducts24com/mounting-dream-md2463/ < I'm very happy with it.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ great budget monitor!
*by S***. on August 18, 2024*

honestly, this is the most amazing monitor ever, i don’t know how they made this so cheap, i think i’ve had it for over i month now and it’s great. its very clear and looks great. the hdr is a little faded but i think that might just be me. the stand is very sturdy and i don’t think it will break anytime soon. the refresh rate is amazing, the 180hz is a huge step up from 120, from the old monitor i had, and it runs games very smoothly. i think its the perfect size for a mid ranged gaming set up. also i love that i can have my computer and xbox connected to it at the same time, and once i turn one or the other on, it will automatically connect to it, without me having to switch cables, but you need 2 hdmis or 1 hdmi and a display port connected to you computer. the 1440p looks great and is way better than 1080p. no dissatisfaction or disappointment. Amazing monitor.
