As I began assembling the first fixture I thought I had made a mistake because the piece that screws the glass to the fixture was thin and cheap, I was worried that after screwing it into place it would slip off the threads and the shade would fall to the floor. It's not until I had the light on that I was able to appreciate it, and it is quite nice looking. I like that a pretty good amount of light comes through the shade, so it's not all in a circle below, it does light up the whole area. Because it looks so good in operation I'm rethinking my regret and probably going to end up liking these. I totally believe the product page photos are misleading, when the light isn't coming through the glass you can see a silvery finish that has clear rainbow colors applied over it, reminiscent of the old glassware they call carnival glass, but this is not carnival glass.
