When the tension is adjusted correctly you can move them around very freely but they are still stable. They can be adjusted to work with heavy or light books, between 11 inches and 19 inches wide when open. I could see these being very very useful for a teacher who wanted to keep a textbook open at near eye level to reference while they are standing and lecturing or working on a whiteboard. Or anyone who would find it useful to reference a book while standing.

See photo, the tension can be adjusted to hold objects of various weight, these make great textbook holders! When the tension is adjusted correctly you can move them around very freely but they are still stable. They can be adjusted to work with heavy or light books, between 11 inches and 19 inches wide when open. I could see these being very very useful for a teacher who wanted to keep a textbook open at near eye level to reference while they are standing and lecturing or working on a whiteboard. Or anyone who would find it useful to reference a book while standing.

Works great, well made, sturdy and fits my laptop well. I purchased to get my work laptop off my desk and since I use it only during work hours I can move it out of my way when off work hours. It was easy to assemble but trying to figure out how to lower the arm was a little hard. The gas spring required a lot of force to get it to release the tension but once we figured that out it was good to go! It can be adjusted in many positions. I'm using for laptop but it's nice that they include the mount option for a monitor as well, not only does it enhance the value but increases the longevity of usage since it can be used for two purposes if I no longer want to use for a laptop.
