It does its job very well and will make you more comfortable on the longer hot weather rides. I have helmets that came with visors, but these are generally heavier and also suited for mountain biking. They are fine in the winter, but during the hot days of the summer a lighter road bike helmet is more desirable. Most of these do not come with a visor. I found that this cap with a visor is a great way to get the shade for your eyes when you need it. If you don't want it, you can just take the cap off and put it in your back pocked. It is very light and small when folded. Also noteworthy is that a light cap, such as this one, prevents bees from stinging you if they get into the helmet. That happens where I ride. The cap is so thin that my head does not feel any warmer wearing it. You can also soak it in water and wear it.
