I aligned them where I wanted them positioned with one hand, then slightly tightened the handle, made final adjustments and then tightened the handle fully. You can use painters tape (or any tape you can pull off easily) to hold them in place. Hope this helps! **Q: What is the thickness of the plate?** A: The black version is about 3/64 inch. **Q: Can this be turned for a vertical orientation? All images show horizontal orientation.** A: So there wasn’t anything that specifically made me install in any orientation, though I did install it horizontally.
